Can I use Kangaroo to pay with QRIS when I visit Indonesia?
Yes. Cards are widely accepted in Bali's tourist areas, and QRIS is accepted across Indonesia, including warungs, markets and ride-hailing, and in provinces where cards are rare. With Kangaroo you can top up your own GoPay, OVO or DANA wallet from your Australian bank account before or during your trip.
You need:
- A GoPay, OVO or DANA wallet registered to your mobile number, in your own name as on your passport.
- A Kangaroo account.
Add your wallet as a recipient and top up.
Limits: an unverified wallet holds at most IDR 2,000,000 (about AUD 160) and receives up to IDR 20,000,000 a month, so plan on several small top-ups. We cap each one at IDR 2,000,000 for you. If you upgrade your wallet (GoPay accepts a passport in-app), the limits rise to IDR 20,000,000 and IDR 40,000,000 and you can lift the cap at the quote.
