GoPay, OVO or DANA: which should I use as a visitor?

All three work the same way for paying: GoPay, OVO and DANA all pay by QRIS, and each one is registered to a mobile number. Register in your own name as on your passport.

The difference is the upgrade. An unverified wallet holds at most IDR 2,000,000 and receives IDR 20,000,000 a month. Only GoPay lets a visitor upgrade with a passport (to GoPay Plus), which raises the limits to IDR 20,000,000 and IDR 40,000,000. OVO Premier and DANA Premium need an Indonesian KTP.

So we recommend GoPay for travellers. If you already use OVO or DANA, they work fine at the unverified limits.
