How to Sign Up With Kangaroo Service (2026)

Kangaroo Service how to sign up in three steps, showing the account, details and verification screens

If you have never used a money transfer service before, the sign-up step is usually the part that puts people off. You do not know what will be asked for, how long it will take, or what happens if you get something wrong.

So here is the whole thing, start to finish. There are three steps, and you only do them once.

Before you start

Have one form of Australian photo ID nearby. A driver’s licence or a passport both work.

That is genuinely all you need to begin. Nothing needs to be printed, certified or posted.

Step 1: Create your account

Go to online.kangaroo-service.com and choose to sign up.

The first screen asks for your name, your email address, your mobile number and a password. That is the entire first page.

The whole first screen. Nothing here about documents or money

No documents, no financial details, nothing about the person you want to send money to.

Step 2: Your details

Next you fill in your personal information: your full name, date of birth, nationality, country of birth and where you live in Australia.

Nothing here is unusual. It is the same information a bank asks for when you open an account, and for the same reason.

Step 3: Choose how you verify

This is the step people ask us about most, so it is worth explaining properly. There are three ways to do it, and you choose the one that suits you.

Three ways to verify. You pick the one that suits you

Online verification

Your identity is checked electronically through our verification partner. You will need a valid ID document and a camera.

Document upload

If you would rather a person looked at your documents, you can upload them instead. You will be asked for the front and back of your ID document, and there is a notes box where you can explain anything that needs explaining.

One thing to know: if you are using a passport on this option, you will also need a document showing your address, because a passport does not carry one. A utility bill or a bank statement is what most people use.

Our team reviews these by hand.

Existing customer

If you have sent money with us before the online portal existed, you do not need to start from scratch. We have been operating since before the website did, and a good number of our customers have been with us that whole time.

What happens after that

Once you are verified, you are set up. Sending money after that is just sending money. You do not repeat any of the above.

Why we ask for any of this

We are registered with AUSTRAC, Australia’s financial crime regulator, and licensed by Bank Indonesia. Every licensed provider in Australia has to run identity checks, and it is not a formality.

It is also the thing that separates a licensed service from a person collecting cash in a WhatsApp group. The check that feels like a hurdle at sign-up is the reason your money is traceable and accounted for at the other end.

If you want to see how to confirm any of this for yourself rather than taking our word for it, we wrote about that here: Is Kangaroo Service safe? An honest review.

If you get stuck

Message us during our staffed hours and one of our team will go through it with you. Verification is the step people most often need a hand with, and we would rather help than have you give up halfway.

Sign up here, or send us a message first if you would prefer to ask something before you start.
